What is Helifix crack stitching?
Helifix is a UK-developed system of stainless steel helical bars (HeliBars) and grout used to repair and reinforce masonry. We cut slots into the horizontal mortar joints across the crack, then bed the HeliBars in with HeliBond grout. Once cured, the bars spread the load along the wall and tie both sides of the crack back together.
The same bars can be set in longer runs to form hidden masonry beams (HeliBeam). These strengthen walls over openings, reconnect bowing walls, and stabilise walls after a footing has moved.
Why we use the Helifix system
- Non-disruptive: most work is done from one side of the wall, so you can usually stay in the house
- Concealed: bars sit inside the mortar joints and are repointed or rendered over
- No demolition: cracked brickwork is reinforced where it stands, not rebuilt
- Stainless steel: won't rust, so it suits Perth's coastal suburbs
- Guaranteed: a 10-year indemnified guarantee on most Helifix repairs, with an insurance-backed warranty available after approval from Helifix (T&Cs apply)
Why an approved installer matters
The Helifix Approved Installer scheme was set up so that Helifix products are installed properly and perform the way they were designed to, with strict quality control. John has been installing Helifix systems for more than 20 years, starting in the UK on heritage churches, sports centres and buildings damaged by tunnelling. We can design the repair as well as install it.
Structural engineers, loss adjusters and surveyors often recommend an approved Helifix installer, so that the repair is specified and installed properly from the start.
